Hi, my name is Teresa Harder, I am a special education associate. I have been with Des Moines Public Schools for 10 years. This is my third year at Edmunds. I am currently attending William Penn University where I am getting my teaching degree. I am married and have two children. In my free time I like to spend time with family, friends, and being outside.
Hello, I am Andrew Kurimski, and I am the 2-3 special education teacher at Edmunds. This will be my 2 1/2 year at Edmunds. I’m so excited to be returning and to start the year off back at Edmunds, and I can’t wait to begin working with students. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa December of 2014 (GO PANTHERS!). I grew up in a rural area about an hour southeast of Des Moines. In my free time I enjoy doing many activities outside such as attending sporting events, swimming, biking, and grilling with my family and friends.
Hello!!!!!! My name is Brendetta Logan “Ms. Detta”. I am the special education associate. I have been with the Des Moines School District (Edmunds) for eight years. I also work with the Oakridge afterschool tutoring program. I have a ten year old son that attends Edmunds as well. He is my backbone with all the support we have for each other. We also support my grandmother at home. I attend Des Moines Area Community Collage as an Administration Assistant student. I am passionate about helping and supporting students with special needs (behavior). During my free time I like to read urban books. I love spending as much time as I can with my son. Our days are busy between school, work and sports.
Hello ~ My name is Denise Myers. I am a special education associate. I have been with the Des Moines School District for five years. The first four years with the district I was a head cook. I had a strong desire to be more involved with the students in the classroom, so I completed the Para-Educator Certification Course to be a Teacher Associate. I am blessed to have the opportunity to positively impact the students by building trust through relationship bonding.
I am a transplant to Iowa from Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania I was employed at Penn State University as a Nutrition Education Advisor working with income stressed families. I had the pleasure of teaching families how to cook healthy meals with the resources they had available. These resources included WIC Foods, Food Pantry Items, and Governmental Foods (SNAP). I completely loved what I was doing. It was both an honor and a privilege to educate families, students, and groups on the importance of health and nutrition.
My most “important” life career has been a wife, mother, and grandmother. My husband and I have been together since high school. We will celebrate 37 years of marriage in 2018. Together we have one beautiful daughter, who has given us a great son-in-law, and three amazing grandchildren. My husband and I are active in our church, travel when possible, and can never get enough of our family. LIFE IS GOOD!
