Hilary Fort

5th Grade Teacher

E: hilary.fort@dmschools.org

Hello, my name is Hilary Fort and I am lucky enough to have taught all three years at Edmunds. I grew up in Ankeny, Iowa and attended college at Wichita State University where I studied and received my bachelors in education. I’ve always had a true passion for working with students and watching them grow and thrive in the classroom. I love learning and truly believe that it is a life-long skill.

I am the middle child; my younger brother plays baseball and goes to college at Northwest Missouri State. My older is sister is married and has two beautiful boys who I am lucky enough to call my nephews. I have two loving and supportive parents who like to spend time traveling together. I am looking forward to an exciting year and I hope to make more faces familiar!

Welcome to fifth grade!  My name is Brooke Maxwell and I have been teaching for 14 years in the Des Moines Public Schools. I did my undergraduate work at Upper Iowa University and The University of Northern Iowa where I earned my degree in Elementary Education and endorsements in Special Education and Early Childhood Education.   I later continued my studies at Drake University where I earned my Master’s Degree in Effective Teaching and Learning with an emphasis in Curriculum Design and Development.

I love teaching math and watching students explore and learn new strategies for solving complex problems.

In my spare time, you will find me enjoying time with my three children.   We love spending time at the lake- swimming, jet skiing, boating, fishing and relaxing.  As an avid Hawkeyes fan, you can always find me cheering as loud as I can on game day.
