United Way and Edmunds 3rd graders team up for literacy!

On Tuesday, September 11th over 20 volunteers from the United Way of Central Iowa visited Edmunds Elementary to read with the 3rd grade students. Event coordinator Pat Steele shared that this annual interaction with Edmunds students is an exciting project for the volunteers. It is always an exciting time for the students – and this year did not disappoint!  Volunteers and students worked together using a literacy kit based on the book When Walt Disney Rode a Pig by Mark Weakland. Each kit contained engaging literacy activities based on the book, and the students got to take the book home with them!  We enjoy having the United Way volunteers in our building each year and look forward to our next time together!
