Edmunds Student donate artistic talent for Thanksgiving, partnering with Aging Resources of Central Iowa

This Thanksgiving home bound older adults around the Des Moines area benefited from the thoughtful efforts of Edmunds Elementary art students. As a Thanksgiving community service project, the students partnered with Aging Resources of Central Iowa to provide art and holiday sentiments on greeting cards. Students from grades 2-5 worked on decorating the Thanksgiving cards, writing about their favorite Thanksgiving traditions and what they were thankful for. They did they art and writing work in their art classes, as they talked about their own families and holiday traditions. The cards were then delivered along with a delicious Thanksgiving meal to home bound, older adults in Polk County. The students were very excited to participate in this project, and felt the pride in sharing their time and talent to make a positive difference in other peoples’ lives!

Aging Resources annually provides delicious, hot meals on Thanksgiving, and also partners with Mercy Hospital and many volunteers to provide hot, delicious Christmas meals as well. For further information about services provided by Aging Resources: (515)225-1310.
