“Girls on the Run” for Health, Leadership and Community Betterment!
Third, fourth, and fifth grade girls at Edmunds who have been participating in the Girls on the Run program, have also been stretching their legs in community involvement. Yes, the girls have been getting together weekly to practice their running, putting all that energy to use for the end-of-season 5K run, which was a huge success! But another important part of the Girls on the Run program is performing a community impact project, and our Edmunds girls stepped it up with an excellent plan: they collected toiletries and feminine hygiene products to donate to a local shelter, helping those who don’t have access to these items. After school on May 15th, the girls put together dozens of care bags with a mixture of the items, which were then delivered. Their coaches are proud of them for recognizing a need in their community and following through with their plan to help!
