2nd Graders At Edmunds: “Morning Coffee Club”

Ms. Oleman’s second grade class at Edmunds sure knows how to start their school day:  after Yoga and morning meeting  one day this month, they all took part in their newly formed “Coffee Club.”

Students receive  their “coffee”  (chocolate milk, actually!) and a newspaper in this innovative way to study phonics.  As student’s enjoyed their coffee they searched the newspapers and highlighted the words with the prescribed letter blends for that day.  As a bonus, the local coffee shop Smokey Row was kind enough to donate cups and lids to the classroom for the project!  Students had a great deal of fun finding letter blends in the papers, while enjoying their morning coffee!
