New Mural “School of Edmunds” unveiled this year
The new student mural at Edmunds Elementary was officially unveiled with the start of the new school year, an exciting art piece that tapped the talents of hundreds of Edmunds art students all of last year. The new mural is located on the second floor and is an apt companion piece to the world map mural located in the school’s entryway. The art project was created during the 2014-15 school year, driven by the student’s ideas that ranged from an underwater landscape to dinosaurs, tigers and multiple worlds.
Edmunds’ Art Teacher David Borzo worked with the students on the design, drawing and painting phases of the mural, with the majority of the painting portion done by 2nd through 5th graders. Borzo said that “there are elements of many famous painters in the mural, like Henri Rousseau, Edvard Munch and Pablo Picasso, some of the artists that we have studied in art class. “School of Edmunds” will stand as an artistic legacy for the so many students who took part!”
