Boys 2 Men

“Boys 2 Men” is an afterschool program for 5th grade boys at Edmunds Elementary that helps young boys with life skills make the transition to becoming an adult. Boys 2 Men mentor John Hawkins promotes goals and standards to help students to be role models and leaders in their school and community. The participants of this program were recently invited to Scheels Sporting Goods at Jordan Creek Mall to meet Brad Banks,  former quarterback for the Iowa Hawkeyes. In 2002 as a senior, Mr. Banks finished second in the Heisman Trophy race, which honors the best college football player in the nation. Brad shared his success story with the Edmunds students and shared about how he worked to achieve his success. His message of perseverance and hard work was one that the students could relate to. Chris Roberts, Physical Education Teacher at Edmunds said that “It was great for the students to meet a man of humble beginnings who achieved so much!”
