Special Visitor from TV 8 at Edmunds
Edmunds students got a visit from a special local celebrity when Marcus McIntosh of KCCI TV 8 News paid a visit to a recent school assembly. The students were treated to a book, read with great gusto my Mr. McIntosh, and Edmunds Elementary was treated to a generous donation from EMC Insurance. EMC works in partnership with KCCI to promote literacy and reading in our schools. The check from EMC was donated to the Edmunds library to go for the purchase of new books, and it was thankfully received by Edmunds Principal Jaynette Rittman.
The special assembly with the entire school was loud and raucous with enthusiasm as the camera’s rolled and Mr. McIntosh made his way through the packed crowd. Many of the students were excited at the prospect of seeing themselves on the TV 8 News broadcast that evening. Reading a book to nearly 300 students and teachers is not an easy fete, but Mr. McIntosh was up for the challenge. After the check presentation for the library and the book reading, there were many question for him as well from the kids, about KCCI, the business of TV news casting and what it’s like to work on TV.
