Annual 4th Grade Art Center Tour a Great Success!

Edmunds 4th grade students took part in the annual 4th grade’s pilgrimage to the Des Moines Art Center this last week, showing that art appreciation knows no age limits.  Students were impressed with the world renowned art collection, with samples from some of the most important artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. The students recently learned about abstract and figurative work in art, so they were eager to share what they knew to the Art Center tour guides. Favorite pieces for the students included  Ai Weiwei’s “Sunflower seeds,” John Singer Sargent’s “Portraits of Edouard and Marie-Louise Pailleron,” Francis Bacon’s “Study After Velazquez’s Portrait of Pope Innocent X” and  Alberto Giacometti’s “Man Pointing.” The student’s  also asked excellent questions, shared what they liked or didn’t like on the tour, well representing Edmunds with their excellent behavior.  Great job 4th graders!
