Junior ROTC at Edmunds!

Mrs. Webb’s 1st grade class at Edmunds Elementary enjoyed an afternoon of reading and writing with special guests from Des Moines Public Schools Central Campus’ Junior ROTC (JROTC) program. The “Red Bull Battalion” is comprised of students from Des Moines high Schools, as well as surrounding area high schools including Urbandale, Ankeny and Van Meter. The students were excited to meet the JROTC cadets and learn about them as they asked many questions. The students enjoyed showing the cadets their ability to read and to write a fabulous sentence, as well as sharing books together. The 1st graders worked so hard that at afternoon’s end they wanted to let loose; the 1st graders y did some teaching of their own by showing the JROTC cadets a few fun dance moves, and the cadets joined with the class  in the “tooty –ta.”
