Diabetes Busters Visit Edmunds 4th Graders

Edmunds Elementary hosted the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in March, who were at the school to present an educational program for the 4th graders about Diabetes, nutrition and exercise.  The ADA shares this program with 4th graders all over the district, teaching students about taking better care of their bodies and help prevent diabetes. The program is designed to raise awareness with both students and their families. Providing simple options for living a more healthful lifestyle. Through games, traditional classroom settings and other interactions, the ADA outlined a healthy approach to eating and exercise. The 4th grade students were also sent home with a “goody bag” full of information to share with their parents and siblings, including a pedometer to help measure their activity. There was no cost to the school as the program is funded by corporate sponsors and individual donations to the American Diabetes Association.
