4th Graders Win MLK Celebration Art Contest

We’re excited to have two Edmunds students, 4th graders Jeremy Gradford and Raechel Gradford to have been selected as winners of the Forest Avenue Library Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration Art Contest!  Many Edmunds students from 3rd through 5th grades entered the competition and learned a lot about Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy in art class.  A panel of judges, comprised of members from the community, independently reviewed all the art submitted, selecting their top choices for the art and writing competition.  Raechel was selected as the overall Elementary level winner for art and Jeremy was selected as the honorable mention entry for art.   The students are scheduled to be  featured in this Sunday’s Des Moines Register in a featured article.

The public is invited to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at 4:00 PM on Monday, January 19 at the Forest Avenue Library.  Winners of the student art and writing contests will also share their work with the audience.  There will be a reception immediately following the program hosted by the Friends of the Forest Avenue Library, as well as a community art project
